The National Law Enforcement Accountability Database tracked officer misconduct across every state. It meant departments couldn’t quietly rehire cops fired for brutality, fraud, or abuse. It was the only national civilian-access tool of its kind.
In 2025, the federal government pulled it offline. The National Decertification Index still exists — but it’s restricted to law enforcement only. Civilians got nothing.
